What happens when my GIC matures?

When your GIC matures, it’ll follow the maturity instruction that you set up, which could be one of the following:

  • Renew both the principal and interest into a new GIC with the same term, at the posted rate.
  • Renew the principal into a new GIC with the same term, and pay out the interest.
  • Reinvest the principal and interest into a new GIC with a different term at the posted rate.
  • Reinvest the principal into a different term GIC and, pay out the interest.
  • Or, pay out both the principal and interest.

Remember – You can update your maturity options any time during its term.

 

Here’s how to do that:
 

Step 1

Select your GIC Account.

Step 2

Tap the 3 dots at the top of the screen, select 'Maturity Options' and follow the prompts.

Step 1

Log in if you aren't already, select your GIC Account and click ‘Maturity Options’.

Step 2

Select your new maturity instructions and follow the prompts from there.
