At Tangerine, we respect your privacy. That’s why we’re committed to being transparent about our digital practices. Find out more about interest-based advertising, cookies and managing your advertising preferences.
What’s interest-based advertising?
Interest-based advertising (IBAI B A), which is sometimes called online behavioral advertising, uses data collected from your online activity on a digital device (e.g. smart phone, tablet, computer, etc.) using cookies, pixel tags, and other technologies to show ads that may be of interest to you. For example, if your online behavior indicates a possible preference for travelling, you might be shown a targeted travel-related credit card offer. You can learn more about the technologies we use at –Tangerine – Digital Privacy & Interest-Based Advertising.
What’s AdChoices?
AdChoices is a self-regulatory program that provides Canadians with greater transparency and control over the interest-based advertising they receive. It also lets them opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies online or on their mobile device. Tangerine adheres to this program’s guidelines and is an active participant. You can learn more about this program at DAAC AdChoices.
How do I manage my AdChoices preference and opt out?
-
You can opt out of data collection and use for interest-based advertising by companies participating in the AdChoices program by using the Opt-Out Tool provided by the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC) Opt out Tools.
-
To manage your preferences on your desktop, go to the AdChoices Opt-Out Tool for browser data.
-
You can also manage your preferences directly on your device using the "Limit Ad Tracking" setting on iOS devices or the "Opt-Out of Interest Based Ads" setting on Android devices. To manage preferences on your mobile device, go to AdChoices Mobile AppChoices for app data (Apple) or AdChoices Mobile AppChoices for app data (Android).
-
If you opt out of interest-based advertising, you may still see Tangerine advertising, but it won’t be personalized based on your online behaviours.
