How can I transfer my TFSAs to Tangerine Investments?

Step 1

Log in, if you haven’t already and select the TFSA account you'd like to transfer the funds to.

Step 2

Click on ‘More Actions’, select ‘Transfer TFSA’ from the list, and follow the prompts.

Make sure you have:

  • The external account number and plan number of the account you want to transfer from.
  • The other financial institution's address.

Note: If you don’t have a Tangerine TFSA account, start by opening one. To open a new account, follow the steps below:

 

Click on ‘My Tangerine’. Scroll down and select ‘Open an Account’.

 

From the menu bar, choose ‘Investing’ and then select ‘Tax Free Investment Fund Account’, and follow the prompts.

 

After opening the account you’ll be asked how you’d like to fund your account. You can indicate there that you’ll be transferring funds from another financial institution.

To transfer a Tax-free Investment Account from another institution to your Tangerine Investment Fund Account:

Step 1

Select your Tangerine Tax free Investment Fund Account.

Step 2

Tap the 3 dots at the top of your screen, select 'Transfer TFSA’ and follow the prompts.

Make sure you have:

  • The external account number and plan number of the account you want to transfer from.
  • The other financial institution's address.

Note: If you don't have a Tangerine TFSA Investment Fund Account, start by opening one.

To open a new Tangerine Tax-free Investment Account:

Step 1

Tap 'Accounts' at the bottom left corner of your screen.

Step 2

Scroll down to 'Explore our Products' and tap on ‘Investments’.

Step 3

Select Tax-Free Investment Fund Account from the list and follow the prompts. After opening the account you’ll be asked how you’d like to fund your account. You can indicate there that you’ll be transferring funds from another financial institution.
