When your GIC matures, it’ll follow the maturity instruction that you set up, which could be one of the following:
- Renew both the principal and interest into a new GIC with the same term, at the posted rate
- Renew the principal into a new GIC with the same term, and pay out the interest
- Reinvest the principal and interest into a new GIC with a different term at the posted rate
- Reinvest the principal into a different term GIC, and pay out the interest
