Want to know all there is about Tangerine's Shell Benefits? Here are the most frequently asked questions.
 

1. What’s the Shell Fuel Discount Offer?

All Tangerine cardholders can get savings and rewards on fuel with Shell and Scene+ when you link your cards to your Shell Go+ account.
 

Get up to 10 ¢/L in value with a linked Tangerine Rewards World Elite Mastercard:

  • Instant savings of 3¢ per litre on all grades of Shell fuel.
  • Save an additional 4¢ per litre when purchasing Shell V-Power®.
  • Earn up to 3¢ per litre in Scene+ points value on your fuel purchases at Shell.

Get up to 8 ¢/L in value with a linked Money-Back World Mastercard or Money-Back Credit Card:

  • Instant savings of 3¢ per litre on all grades of Shell fuel.
  • Earn up to 3¢ per litre in cash back with fuel selected as a 2% category.
  • Earn 1¢ per litre in Scene+ points value on all grades of Shell fuel, or 2¢ per litre in Scene+ points value on Shell V-Power® when you link your Scene+ Account to Shell Go+.

2. How do I get the Shell Fuel Discount Offer?

To receive instant savings on fuel purchases at Shell:

(i) Enroll to receive the Fuel Benefit via the Tangerine Mobile app or Online Banking, by going to your credit card account and selecting ‘Shell’ in ‘my Rewards’.

(ii) Link the eligible Tangerine credit card to a Shell Go+ account – if you don’t have a Shell Go+ account, don’t worry, you’ll be prompted to create one here.

(iii) Once that’s done, you can start paying for fuel in-store, at the pump or via the Shell App using the linked Tangerine credit card.

If you’re a Tangerine Money-Back or Money-Back World Cardholder, remember to also link your Scene+ membership card to Shell Go+ to get the most fuel value. Simply log into the Shell app and add your Scene+ account.

3. How do I become a Shell Go+ member?

Visit shell.ca/shellapp, download the Shell App, and sign up to become a Shell Go+ member. As a Tangerine Cardholder, you also have the option to create a Shell Go+ account when you go through the benefit enrollment process, by going to your credit card account and selecting ‘Shell’ in ‘my Rewards’ through Tangerine Mobile Banking app or Online Banking.

4. Can authorized users on my Tangerine credit card account take advantage of this offer?

Primary credit cardholders with an eligible Tangerine credit card account have the option to link all or any authorized users to their Shell Go+ account, enabling your authorized users to receive the Fuel Benefit.
 

After that initial linking date, any new authorized users will be automatically linked.

5. I forgot my Tangerine credit card at home, but I want to claim the discount for fuel that I paid for - can I do this? And how?

Unfortunately, discounts cannot be provided retroactively. However, cardholders can add their Tangerine credit card to their Shell App wallet or mobile wallet to pay for fuel with their phone, without the physical card.

6. Is there a limit to the amount of discount I can use in a day/month/ year? What is the max?

For Tangerine credit card accounts, the total discount available as a Fuel Benefit is limited to 1,000 litres per month per account (regardless of the individual spend on each credit card associated with that account). This total limit resets at the start of each new month per account.

Tangerine clients can link their Tangerine credit cards to Shell Go+ through the Tangerine app or website.

8. Can I start saving on fuel at Shell immediately after linking my card to Shell Go+?

Your card linking to Shell Go+ may take up to 48 hours to link and for savings to become available at the pump.
 

If 48 hours has passed and you are not seeing your instant savings, contact Tangerine at 1-888-826-4374.

9. Can I stack my card benefits with other rewards programs?

Yes, you can stack your card benefits when you purchase fuel at Shell. Visit shell.ca/loyalty to learn more.
