To transfer your registered Tangerine Account, you'll need to contact the financial institution where you'd like to transfer it.
Just so you know, we do charge a fee to transfer registered funds out of Tangerine.
Here are some tips to help your transfer be processed with minimal delays.
Plan & Account Details:
- Double-check your Tangerine plan number – make sure it’s valid and matches your account.
- Include the correct receiving institution account number – it must match the plan you're transferring to.
- If transferring a locked-in plan, attach the locked-in agreement showing the correct pension legislation.
- Verify that the Canadian account you’re transferring to matches the type of Account at Tangerine.
- Ensure your Account has a balance – transfers from Accounts with a $0 balance cannot be processed.
Personal Information:
- Use your full legal name – it must match records at both Tangerine and the receiving institution.
- Confirm your address is up to date – if you’ve moved, you can easily update your info online before submitting.
- Provide your valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- If someone is signing on your behalf, ensure a Power of Attorney (POA) is set up on your Tangerine Account.
Final Notes:
- Fill out the entire form clearly and legibly.
- Choose In Cash as the transfer type — Tangerine Mutual Fund Portfolios and GICs can’t be transferred In Kind.
- Include the name of the receiving institution.

Please note: For locked in plans, in addition to a standard T2151 form, we may require further documentation. We’ll contact you if that’s the case.
