Are there any fees associated with the Tangerine Savings Account?
There are some fees in certain circumstances. Once 2 years have passed since your last login (online or over the phone), your Accounts are considered dormant, and at that point, a $20 fee is charged annually per Account. The fee is charged on the anniversary of your last login date.
Unclaimed balances in Accounts that are dormant for 8 years (e.g. 10 years have passed since the last login) must be turned over to the Bank of Canada, at which point an additional $40 fee is deducted from each Account turned over. To prevent this fee and reactivate your Account(s), all you need to do is log in with your Client Number and PIN.
Clients with a Savings Account will also be charged a Paper Statement Fee of $2 per document issued, and a $5 fee per document for reprinted statements and tax receipts/slips. To avoid these fees and help the environment, choose electronic statements.
RSP, RIF and Tax-Free Savings Accounts have a $50 fee that’s charged if you transfer these registered funds to a registered Account at another financial institution. Withdrawals, for which there is no fee, don't count as this type of transfer, although there may be tax implications. The transfer fee only applies to registered Accounts, and not to the Tangerine Savings Account, which is a non-registered Account.
If you happen to have a pre-authorized payment that is rejected, a Non-Sufficient Funds Fee of $45 may be charged.
