What is the Home Buyers Plan (T1036)?
Through the Canada Revenue Agency’s Home Buyers Plan (HBP), eligible individuals can withdraw funds from their RSP under specific circumstances without having to pay tax on the withdrawal. The HBP is designated for first-time homebuyers who haven’t owned a home in any of the 4 calendar years preceding the withdrawal. Money withdrawn must be used to purchase or build a home.
Information on the HBP , including the form, is available on the Canada Revenue Agency website.
