If you noticed suspicious activity in your Account(s) or think you may have been a victim of fraud, we’re here to help.
Here are some things to consider when reporting suspicious activity and afterwards:
Don’t respond to suspicious communications, even if they’re claiming to be from a legitimate source.
Take notes on what happened (e.g. names, titles and phone numbers of the source that contacted you) and gather any related documentation. This can include emails, text messages, receipts, bank statements and screenshots of websites.
Check accounts you have at other financial institutions for unauthorized activity.
For issues with Credit Card or Client Card purchases, contact the merchant first.
Get in touch with us right away if you suspect unauthorized use of your Tangerine Account(s) or think someone may have your login information or Card PIN.
To report suspicious activity in your Account(s): please call 1-888-826-4374.
To report a suspicious email claiming to be from Tangerine: Forward the email to phishing@tangerine.ca
Secure your personal and banking information by updating your login credentials and passwords.
Keep an eye on the information in the ‘Credit Score’ section when you log in at Tangerine.ca. That could help provide a heads-up on any suspicious activity.
Contact the credit bureaus (Equifax and/or TransUnion) and anywhere you bank to place a fraud alert on your file. This can protect you if a fraudster tries to apply for credit or a product in your name.
Prevention and preparation are the best protection from scams and fraud.
