Are there any fees associated with the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card?

There is no annual fee with the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card. However, certain transactions and services do involve a fee:

  • Foreign Currency Conversion - 2.50% is added to the converted transaction amount.

  • Cash Advance - $3.50 within Canada, $5.00 outside Canada.

  • Balance Transfer – 3.00% of the amount transferred, or minimum of $5.00.

  • Dishonoured Payment - $25.00

  • Over-limit - $25.00 (maximum one over-limit charge per monthly statement period).

  • Rush Card - $25.00.

  • Past Statement Reprint - $5.00 per statement (no charge for reprint of current monthly statement).

How do the Money-Back Rewards work?

Every purchase you make using your Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card earns you Money-Back Rewards. You earn 2% Money-Back Rewards on all your purchases in the 2% Money-Back Categories of your choice, and 0.50% on all other purchases.

There are two options for receiving your Money-Back Rewards:

  • You can have them deposited back onto your Credit Card, in which case they are applied against the balance owing on your Account. If you select this redemption option, then you can choose two 2% Money-Back Categories.

  • You can have them deposited into your Tangerine Savings Account, where they are treated just like regular cash deposits and earn interest. With this redemption option, you can choose three 2% Money-Back Categories.

Money-Back Rewards are automatically deposited into your designated Account on your statement date each month.

Can I have additional cardholders on my Account?

Yes, you can allow up to 5 Authorized Users to have a Card on your Credit Card Account. Authorized Users can make purchases and take Cash Advances with the Cards issued to them, but they can’t make changes to the credit limit on your Account or arrange Balance Transfers. Authorized Users also aren’t responsible for paying balances owing on your Account. As the Primary Cardholder, you would be entirely responsible for paying Credit Card balances, including any charges incurred by Authorized Users.

How can I change my 2% Money-Back Categories?

It's easy to change your 2% Money-Back Categories online. Once you're logged in, click your Credit Card Account and go to 'Rewards'.

Click 'Change Categories' under the category icons, and then you can select your new 2% Money-Back Categories. Make a note of the date that the changes will take effect.

Do I need to do anything to redeem my Money-Back Rewards?

No, there’s nothing you need to do. Your Money-Back Rewards are redeemed automatically, either to your Tangerine Savings Account or to your Credit Card Account, on your statement date each month.

How do I activate my new Credit Card?

When you’re logged in, you should see a message near the top of the screen prompting you to activate your Credit Card. Just click 'Activate Card' to take care of it.

If you don't see the message mentioned above, you can also activate your Credit Card by clicking your name in the header to get to your Profile & Settings. Once there, scroll down to the Credit Card section, and click 'Activate' on the applicable Card.

I’m traveling outside Canada and would like to use my Credit Card. Is there something I need to do?

It’s definitely a great idea to let us know about your travel plans so we can help prevent issues with your Credit Card. When you’re logged in, select your Credit Card Account, and go to ‘Account Details’. Toward the bottom of that screen, you’ll see a link that says ‘Travel Notice’. Click there to provide your Travel Notification details.

Note that there may be some countries that are subject to sanctions imposed by international norms and laws, or other situations that may prevent transactions while you’re in these countries. We monitor and adhere to all sanction laws of Canada, the United States, and the United Nations. This means that we may be unable to permit transactions in certain countries. If you encounter problems while you're travelling outside Canada, please call us collect at 416-758-3139.

How do I change my Credit Card PIN?

Once you’re logged in, click your Credit Card Account, and go to ‘Account Details’.

Under 'Primary Cardholder' click 'Edit PIN' and follow the instructions.

How do I increase my Credit Card limit?

It's easy to request a Credit Card limit increase online. Once you’re logged in, click your Credit Card Account and go to ‘Account Details’.

Click ‘Change’ under 'Credit Limit & Cash Advance', and you can then enter the details. Note that all credit limit increase requests are subject to a credit check.

How do I add an Authorized User on my Credit Card Account?

It's easy to add an Authorized User online. Once you’re logged in, click your Credit Card Account and go to ‘Account Details’. Click ‘Add’ under ‘Authorized Users’.

Can I pay my Credit Card bills automatically?

Absolutely. You can arrange for your Credit Card payments to happen automatically once you're logged. Go to ‘Move my Money’ and select your Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card Account in the ‘To’ dropdown. Then provide all the details for your automatic payments.

How can my Authorized User activate his/her Credit Card?

Each Authorized User has to activate his or her own Card. An existing Tangerine Client can activate their Card online. If the Authorized User isn't an existing Tangerine Client, they'll need to call us at 1-888-826-4374 to first set up their banking PIN before they can activate their Credit Card.

What's the difference between transaction categories and my 2% Money-Back Categories?

To help you manage your money, transactions in your Account(s) are categorized, based on how we identify the type of transaction and using any categorization information you've provided. These categories are unrelated to the Credit Card Money-Back Rewards categories. Your 2% Money-Back Categories are the ones you choose for your 2% Money-Back Rewards.

Where can I find my statement?

Log in, if you aren't already logged in.
Click your Credit Card Account and go to the Account Details page.
Click the 'Statements' button below your balance information and you'll be able to look up the statement you need.

I made a payment. Why can't I see it on my statement?

If you made your payment after your Statement Date (displayed at the top of the statement), then it wouldn't be reflected on that statement. Your next statement should reflect the payment.
