Can AI help visualize your perfect financial future?

Can AI help us imagine our perfect financial futures? In the last few months, some TikTok users have gone viral by asking ChatGPT to visualize, or "manifest," the life of their dreams. They prompted the popular AI tool to help them shift their mindset, to set goals and, especially, to envision their “best day ever.”

We decided to put this trend to the test, and see how ChatGPT might visualize our future selves if we were to achieve our 2025 resolutions. As we all know, New Year’s resolutions require motivation and determination to achieve. Who knows? Having AI paint a vivid picture could boost our motivations.

We asked three Tangerine employees for their 2025 resolutions, and then prompted ChatGPT to tell us what their future would hold if they achieved their goals by 2026.

Let’s see what happened.

1. Less debt, more fun

Content manager Ariel Teplitsky has three goals: to pay off his mortgage at a faster pace, to save up for a hiking trip, and to get more seriously into running. “These goals are about improving and actualizing my overall health and wellbeing,” he says, “and finding the time and money to have fun!”

ChatGPT predicts: By 2026, Ariel is financially empowered, having paid down a significant portion of his mortgage, with the confidence of being on track to be debt-free sooner than expected. His commitment to save for the hiking trip not only funded a remote and challenging adventure but also fostered a deep sense of accomplishment. With a strong commitment to fitness, he completed a 10K and is feeling healthier and more energetic than ever, balancing both physical and financial wellbeing with ease. His life is a blend of purpose, vitality, and fulfilling experiences, all while maintaining the flexibility to enjoy life’s pleasures.

2. Physically and financially fit

Celine Do, an assistant marketing manager, would like to max out her TFSA contribution for the year, increase her financial literacy, and get a better time in her next half marathon. “I always try to keep fitness at the top of my list,” she says, adding that she wants to be “more confident in my finances and be less absentminded when I spend,” with an eventual goal of purchasing a house.

ChatGPT predicts: By 2026, Celine is thriving in both fitness and finances. She has crushed her half-marathon time and maintained a consistent weightlifting routine, feeling stronger and more confident. Her financial goals have been met with discipline — she’s maxed out her TFSA contributions while managing her rent and social life effortlessly.

Through dedication to learning, she’s become financially literate, confidently managing investments and navigating bigger financial decisions. With a growing savings balance, she’s positioned herself for future homeownership and feels empowered to make informed, strategic choices in all areas of her life.

3. Growing her net worth and her network

Assistant marketing manager Marianne Semaan would like to grow her investments, use budgeting tools to help her save money and expand her professional network in 2025. “Instead of viewing my finances as something to be intimidated and stressed by, I would view it as something empowering,” she says.

ChatGPT predicts: By 2026, Marianne is confidently navigating her finances, having grown her savings through smart investments. She regularly uses budgeting tools to track her spending, and her financial awareness has transformed into a sense of control and empowerment. Her expanded professional network has opened new career opportunities, and her shift in mindset has turned her finances from a source of stress into a source of confidence. She now makes informed, purposeful financial decisions, feeling empowered to take on bigger financial challenges and opportunities with clarity and ease.

Our futures have been dreamed up for us. Now for the fun part: making them come true.
