What is a Tangerine Café and how is it different than a typical Bank Branch?
Tangerine Cafés are designed for people who are passionate about simplified banking for modern living. They are places where people can come to talk about their finances and savings goals face-to-face.
In a typical bank branch, banking is done for you. Tangerine Cafés focus on empowering Clients to manage their own banking.
You can visit a Café if you need help with your banking, or need to drop off cheques and documents. Our Café Associates are not bank tellers, so they won't have access to Client files. However, you can access your Tangerine Accounts online using one of the computers or iPads at the Café, and our Associates are always happy to help you.
Tangerine Cafes don’t accept or carry cash. However you can use the ABMs for deposits or cash withdrawals. It’s all part of our
People who are interested in becoming Tangerine Clients can also visit a Café to open their first Tangerine Chequing Account, Savings Account, RSP Savings Account or Tax-Free Savings Account on the spot in minutes, without needing a cheque from another bank. They can also apply for the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card at these locations.

What is a Pop-Up Location or Kiosk?
Our Pop-Up Locations travel around Canada to help new Clients sign up in minutes. Our Kiosks can be found in malls or retail spaces and offer the same services as our Pop-Up Locations. Can I have immediate access to my money if I drop off my cheque at a Tangerine Location?
If you drop off your cheque at a Tangerine Café drop box, the cheque will be forwarded to our head office for deposit. It takes up to 3 business days for the cheque to be deposited into your Account. Once the cheque is deposited into your Account, subject to our hold policy you will have access to the first $100 of each Canadian currency cheque you individually deposit. The remainder of your cheque funds may be on hold for up to 5 business days in accordance with applicable laws and our hold policy.
You can always use the Cheque-InTM feature of our Mobile Banking App to deposit any cheque. Just download our app on your smartphone or tablet (if you don’t already have it), then log in and follow the instructions to take a photo of your cheque and upload it. If you're unsure about the process, a Café Associate would be happy to help you.
You can also use Tangerine or Scotiabank ABMs to deposit your cheque. In both cases, the cheque will be deposited into your Account immediately. Remember, subject to applicable laws and our hold policy you will have access to the first $100 of each individually deposited Canadian currency cheque. The remainder of your funds may be on hold for up to 5 business days.
Tangerine Pop-Up Locations and Kiosks are designed to help new Clients sign up. Since they’re created to move around, they don’t have ABMs or drop boxes onsite, so cheques can’t be dropped off at these locations.
Can I drop off documents at a Tangerine Location?
You can visit a Tangerine Café to drop off any banking forms or applications that you'd like to send to Tangerine. We'll courier them within 1-2 business days and make sure they’re sent to the right people. We can also make copies of any estate or legal documents if needed, so that you can leave with your original copies.
We aren’t able to accept any banking forms or applications at Tangerine Pop-Up Locations and Kiosks. If you’re interested in becoming a new Client, the Sign Me Up app is a simple way to open your first Tangerine Chequing Account, Savings Account, RSP Savings Account or
Can I make an appointment to open an Account at a Tangerine Location?
What's great is that you don't need to make an appointment. You're welcome to drop in at a Café, Pop-Up Location or Kiosk any time during regular business hours. You can find our Tangerine Locations and hours here.
You can also open an Account online at tangerine.ca, or talk to one of our friendly Associates by calling 1-888-826-4374. They're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you.
Can I talk to a financial planner?
Although Café staff are not licenced advisors, we can give you useful information about the features and benefits of our services, tools and Accounts. We'll help you choose the Tangerine Account that best suits your individual needs. For advice specific to your financial situation, you may want to contact a financial planner, tax accountant or personal banker.
Can I talk to someone about getting a Tangerine Mortgage?
We provide general information about mortgages. We can help you fill out applications and pre-approvals for a mortgage online. For more specific or detailed questions, please call us at 1-800-568-2190.
I lost my Client Card for my Tangerine Chequing Account. Can I get a new one at a Tangerine Location?
We can issue replacement Client Cards for our Chequing Account at Tangerine Cafés. If you need one, please bring a valid government issued photo ID and your Tangerine Client Number, and be sure you remember your PIN for online banking. Note: the replacement Card provided by the Café will not be personalized with your name.Valid pieces of photo ID

Tangerine Pop-Up Locations and Kiosks can only sign up new Clients and aren’t able to issue replacement Client Cards.
Can you look up my Account information at a Tangerine Location?
Tangerine Café, Pop-Up and Kiosk Associates don't have access to Client files.
But if you visit a Café, you can view your Tangerine Accounts by logging in online using one of our computers or iPads. To view your Accounts online, you'll need to know your Client Number and PIN.
Forgot your Client Number? No problem! Our Café Associates can help you get your Client Number in the Café and/or connect you with a friendly Associate at our Contact Centre. Just make sure you have a valid government photo ID with you if you need our Café Associates to look up this information.
Can I get cash at a Tangerine Location?
We have ABMs at each Tangerine Café, which you can use to withdraw money. Our Cafés do not carry cash.
Our Pop-Up Locations and Kiosks don’t have ABMs onsite. However, you can withdraw your money for free nation-wide at over 3,500 ABMs on the Scotiabank ABM Network including those at 7-Eleven, Quickie convenience stores, Cineplex Theatres and Couche-Tard.

Do you issue drafts at Tangerine Locations? How much do they cost?
A Tangerine Chequing Account gives you the ability to order a draft. Although Cafés don’t issue drafts, it’s simple to order them online using a Café or your personal computer. Drafts can be couriered to your mailing address or to one of our Tangerine Cafés within 2-3 business days at a cost of $10.
Ordering a draft online is easy. Just follow these simple steps:
- Log in at Tangerine.ca.
- Select your Tangerine Chequing Account.
- Within ‘Account info’, select ‘Order a draft’.
- Provide the necessary information and click ‘Next’.
- Confirm your details and click Submit.
Drafts can’t be issued at Tangerine Pop-Up Locations or Kiosks, and they can't be couriered there if you order them online.
